Another year has flown by and it’s hard to believe that Canadian Dividend Adventure with my first post in May 2020 is approaching 2 years old. Let’s start with a review of just how far we’ve come!

Dividend Income Progress

As per my dividend income report page, I achieved $3251.92 in dividends received in 2020. This number more than doubled in 2021 with $8159.14 in dividend income. My current projections for 2022 will be to receive around $11000 in dividend income, with a target goal of $12000 in forward annual dividend income by year end.

While this blog initially started as a Canadian dividend investing blog, it has slowly grown into more of a passive investing blog, with me adding several sources of passive income over the past two years. See below for a chart of my passive income growth since I first started investing in May 2019:

Networth Progress

2020

My May 2020 networth was $34000 CAD, having started the year at 10k in net worth / assets with 0 debt. At that point in time, I carried $26700 of debt, meaning my assets were $60700. I ended 2020 with a $121400 in assets with $38100 in debt for a final net worth of $83300.

2020 was a huge growth year in many ways and marked the first year I took investing seriously, though I started getting my feet wet in May 2019.

2021

2021 was another significant growth year for my personal networth. I ended January 2021 at $131300 in assets, $39100 in debt, for a first month networth of $92200. Throughout the year, I did a string of deals on the stock market, but also did business deals and ended 2022 with my networth growing by almost $200000. Of this total value, $602100 are in assets, $316800 are in debt, for a year end 2021 networth of $285300.

2022

2022 will largely be a consolidation year as I work to pay off a few of my debts. I am off to a decent start, beating the major averages by ending January 2022 at $295600 in networth, growing my assets to $609100, and reducing my debt down to $313500.

While I can’t say for certain how the year will go, my personal goal is to end the year at $400000 in networth.

2022 Goals

  • $400000 in networth
  • $12000 in forward annual dividend income
  • $275000 in debt

Blog goals for 2022:

  • Add “About” section – I figure I can share a bit of my personal details so my fellow Canadian bloggers know a bit more about me πŸ™‚
  • Add “Portfolio” section – for the sake of transparency and feedback, I’d like to share my portfolio. I’m certain there’s improvements I could make, and maybe my own choices and selections can help inspire someone else!
  • More in-depth posts in my passive income journey
  • “My Watchlist” posts – a selection of stocks I’m keeping an eye on every month, which I likely will be buying (this might be a 2023 goal, since this year my retained dividend purchases will largely be going to income ETFs for personal reasons).

This post will outline my personal financial goals and plans, along with what I plan on adding to this blog for the 2022 calendar year.
