My Rate of Return

Hello everyone! My apologies for some hiccups in posting over the last few months, there were multiple curveballs life threw at me that took an immediate priority. They still are an immediate priority, so things may be sporadic for the next while.

Today, I was inspired by another blog I follow – especially with the markets in turmoil. As such, I’m sharing my Annualized Rate of Return on my accounts. With this, we can explore my investing journey since I first started in May 2019. Let’s dive into it, shall we? Please note, I use a money-weighted RoR as I primarily invest in Dividend/Dividend-Growth stocks.

TFSA Rate of Return – 17.51% Annualized

RRSP Rate of Return – 16.92% Annualized

Cash Account Rate of Return – 10.92% Annualized

The numbers might look good, but I would take them with a grain of salt due to the short timeframe. None of my accounts have reached what I would consider a long-term benchmark of at least 5 years. Another thing to keep in mind is that these are money-weighted returns, as I reinvest dividends (and withdraw dividends for debt repayments since I utilized leverage).
