Blog updates: Text-to-Speech enabled, Podcasts, and Brave Verified Content Creator!

Hello hello! I hope you’re enjoying the summer season! I know I am with everything starting to open up again here in Ontario! At the request of a very kind reader, I will be adding responsive text to speech to all my posts and articles moving forward. Moving forward there will be a button at the start of every article which reads the entire post. Unfortunately, I’m not able to customize the voices, but try it out and let me know your thoughts! Always happy to do what I can.

They also brought up an interesting idea that I think will serve as a direction for future growth: podcasts. I think it’s a great idea! How great would it be to have things like guest posts show up on the site, or things like interviews in audio format? I can already tell this will be a lot of work, but brainstorming on it now will help me figure out how and when to fit it into my content lineup and offerings. Thank you so much for the idea!

As a rough timeline, I hope to try the podcast idea out this winter or sometime next year (still have a bit too much on my plate for the next while with existing projects).

Finally, I’ve got another piece of exciting news. I’m now a Brave verified content creator!

What is Brave?

Brave is a web-browser developed by the inventor of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla. The privacy-focused and performance oriented team’s browser, Brave, blocks trackers and advertisements, saves bandwidth, cuts down on loading times, AND you can even get their proprietary cryptocurrency, Basic Attention Tokens or BAT, passively as you surf the web.

I’ve been testing it out for a few days now and am very impressed by how snappy and responsive everything loads. Take a look at my stats since I started using it a few days ago:

Image showing 51,187 trackers and ads blocked, 1.18 GB of bandwidth saved. 43 minutes saved in loading time.

Pretty cool! The benefits of being a Brave verified content creator mean that users of the browser can choose to tip a percentage of their monthly BAT earnings to help support content creators they enjoy. Interestingly enough, the Publisher side allows for integrations with YouTube, Twitter and Twitch.

Now, do I expect anything to come of becoming a Brave verified content creator? Not really, but it’s an interesting idea and the concept is great if the project ever takes off. I’ve shared with my own small investing community discord, and some of them have been using it for a while!
