This month my portfolio earned $1529.52 in dividends.
April was a huge month for dividend income! Some of this is due to a change in tracking dividends received – currently they’re now tracked according to the day it reaches my account, instead of the typical payment date. I made this change after noticing that my TD account typically received DRIPs almost a week later from the payment date.
Income focused ETFs will be added moving forward using my retained dividends after DRIPs. I realize I’m going back and forth a bit on this decision, but ultimately would feel much more comfortable with an emergency cash flow sub-portfolio within my TFSA. This will be the primary focus of my retained dividends for the next while. Any contributions I make to the TFSA will go to more core holdings, so I’m still building on the dividend growth portion of my portfolio.
