This month my portfolio earned $431.04 in dividends.
This is a $14.61 increase over the previous quarter (February), where I earned $416.43. All in all, this is pretty good news as I march ever closer to my medium term goal of $1000 a month (averaged) in dividends. I don’t necessarily need to balance each other month to earn $1000 individually, as proper budgeting will carry me through. With that said, some of my future planned purchases (pending market conditions) do happen to have their dividends on during these months π
3 of the 3 stocks I re-established DRIPs on last month fell off the DRIP again. This is a great problem to have! While this means I won’t automatically DRIP shares anymore, it does mean I have some funds for other purchases. This works out fine as I’ve been working out a strategy over the past month for my TFSA investing, taking into account recent changes to my life’s financial situation.
As part of my experiment in increasing the quality of the content I deliver on this blog, and for my (hopefully) future kids, I’m going to start outlining the monthly and quarterly stock DRIPs, and the forward income it brings.
This month I added the following stocks through DRIPs:
DRIP – Monthly Dividend Stocks
# of Shares | Ticker | Forward Annual Income Added |
1 | HR.UN | $0.69 |
2 | PLZ.UN | $0.56 |
1 | EIF | $2.28 |
1 | NWH.UN | $0.80 |
1 | BRE | $1.35 |
DRIP – Quarterly Dividend Stocks
# of Shares | Ticker | Forward Annual Income Added |
0 | N/A | 0 π |
I also decided to add a section to these monthly dividend reports where I outline sales/purchases made in the month:
Sales
# of Shares | Ticker | Forward Annual Income Subtracted |
54 | BRE | -$72.9 |
Purchases
# of Shares | Ticker | Forward Annual Income Added |
8 | SRU.UN | $14.8 |
127 | CNR | $312.42 |
20 | KEY | $38.4 |
9 | PPL | $22.68 |
Total Forward Annual Income Added (all sources): $321.08+
The CNR purchase is more inline with my core dividend portfolio, and I look forward to (hopefully?) being able to get this stock on DRIP. The KEY, PPL, and SRU.UN purchases re-establish some DRIPs on stocks and sectors I still believe have some room to appreciate (read: recover) in capital.
Purchases with my personal income will largely be focused building my core portfolio. Meanwhile, purchases with retained dividends will largely be focused on building my income portfolio / re-establishing DRIPs where possible.
Note: There will be some slight variance due to differing exchange rates from the time different reports are written.
